Arizona Maintains Lead Entering Final Round of Pacific-10 Women's Golf Championships

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - UCLA's Yvonne Choe shot an even par 72 during day two of the Pacific-10 Women's Golf Championships to take a two-shot lead, Tuesday at the Walla Walla Country Club.

Choe (143, -1) tied for the round's best score with Washington's Lindsay Morgan (sixth, 148, +4) and is a pair of strokes ahead of both Arizona's Lorena Ochoa and USC's Mikaela Parmlid who shot one over 73 and two over 74, respectively.

Ochoa, the nation's top-ranked player, has won an NCAA seven consecutive tournaments entering the Pac-10 Championships and her seven wins this season are also an NCAA record.

Ochoa made five birdies in the first 11 holes, before four bogeys and a double bogey in the final seven holes cost her the tournament lead.

Arizona State's 301 (+13) was the best team score of round two, moving the Sun Devils from sixth place to fourth. With a two round total of 597, Arizona enters the final 18 holes three shots ahead of UCLA.

Host Washington State received its best performance from freshman Jay-Lee Longbottom. The Perth, Australia native shot a three over 75 to move up 15 spots into a tie for 17th (154, +10). Fellow freshman Kim Welch is tied for 29th (157, +13). The Cougars are in eighth place in the team standings, 14 shots ahead of Oregon and 15 shots in front of Oregon State.

The tournament concludes Wednesday with third round action beginning at 8 a.m.
