Selaru is the second signee to the Cougar tennis family for the 2005-06 season and she is the first player to come to Washington State from Romania. Selaru will come to WSU as a freshman in August from Zalau (Zuh-low, as in allow), Romania. In her native country she has been ranked as one of the top 30 players.
"We expect Carmen to contribute instantly in our singles and doubles line-ups," Hart said. "Her work ethic, passion for the game and personality are exactly what we are looking for to take Cougar tennis into a new era."
Selaru is also looking forward to coming to Pullman.
"I can not wait to come to Washington State to be a part of the Cougar family," Selaru said. "I know that I will have the time of my life in Pullman."
The Cougars' first signee for the 2005-06 season was Maria Ring from Linghem, Sweden who sealed the deal during the November signing period. Ring will join Selaru as a freshman in the fall.
Washington State will lose three seniors to eligibility when the 2004-05 season concludes.
