Box Score

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho scored 18 of the game's final 19 points to post a 68-45 win over Washington State in a non-conference women's basketball game, Sunday.

The win was the third straight in the series for the Vandals (4-4) after the Cougars (2-4) had won the previous 10 meetings.

Washington State, which trailed 30-28 at half and by as many as eight early in the second half, cut its deficit to 44-42 with 11:43 remaining on a layup from freshman Kelley Berglund(Port Angeles, Wash.). Idaho responded by scoring the next six points before WSU junior Yvonne Volkman (Richland, Wash.) scored on a backdoor layup to make the score 50-44 with 8:57 to play.

That was the last field goal the Cougars scored as the Vandals went on an 18-1 run to close the game. WSU, which shot 25 percent from the field in the game, received a free throw from Berglund with 3:15 left for its final point of the afternoon.

Four Vandals scored in double figures led by Alli Nieman's game-high 17. Nieman also added six rebounds. The Cougars were led by senior Jen Kerns (Coeur d'Alene) who had 12 points and has tallied 47 in her last three outings.

WSU's next game is Sunday, December 19 at Toledo at 2 p.m. EST.
