PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Athletics invites Cougar fans to `Gray Out' Beasley Coliseum when the men's basketball team hosts Arizona State Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. In addition to the `Gray Out' theme, members of the WSU Greek community are encouraged to attend the game as WSU Athletics celebrates `Greek Night'.
Everyone attending the game Feb. 18 is encouraged to show their Cougar support by wearing gray. The first 3,700 fans will receive a free gray shirt. The Cougs hope to `Gray Out' Beasley Coliseum to show Arizona State and the nation WSU pride as the game will be televised regionally on ROOT Sports NW and to give the Cougars a great home atmosphere for the game.
Not only will the fans be donning gray, but the players will be sporting their gray uniforms. The alternate jerseys appeared for the first time Nov. 16, 2009 against Eastern Washington at Beasley, but the newly rebranded gray uniforms, now used for away games, first appeared against Washington Jan. 15. The gray uniforms have only been worn three times this year as WSU is 1-2 while wearing them. If fans are in need of gray gear, the t-shirts that will be given out at the game can also be purchased at the Bookie for $10.
WSU is looking for its first victory of the season over Arizona State after the Sun Devils handed the Cougars a 71-67 loss in Tempe, Ariz. earlier this year. The Cougars have won seven of their last eight matchups with the Sun Devils in Pullman, and have outscored them 517-453 in those games. In those eight games, WSU has held Arizona State to less than 50 points three times.
In addition to the `Gray Out', it is also `Greek Night.' Members of the WSU Greek community are encouraged to attend the game. The fraternity and sorority with the most members in attendance at the game Saturday will each receive reserved seating for the game against Washington Sunday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.
Tickets are still available for both basketball games this weekend and next Sunday's game against Washington. To purchase tickets log on to: www.wsucougars.com or call 1-800-Go-Cougs.
