PULLMAN - Former Washington State tight end Devin Frischknecht signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins, the team announced Monday.
Frischknecht lettered with the Cougars each of the last two seasons after transferring from Snow College, appearing in 22 games and making eight starts.
As a senior in 2008 he caught 17 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. His 13 yards-per-reception average was the highest of any Cougar with double-digit catches. He caught a career-long 53-yard touchdown pass against Portland State en route to a career-high 110 yards.
As a junior Frischknecht caught 18 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns. He caught five passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns against Washington in the Apple Cup.
Frischknecht is the second Cougar to join a National Football League roster, as wide receiver Brandon Gibson was drafted in the sixth round by the Philadelphia Eagles.
