COACH HART: Washington State's Lisa Hart is in her ninth season as head coach of the Cougars. Hart is the second coach in Cougars history to surpass 100 wins, as she currently sits at 109. In December, Coach Hart was named the regional winner of the United State Tennis Association and Intercollegiate Tennis Association Sectional Campus and Outreach Award for the Pacific Northwest Section.
COUGARS APPROACHING CAREER RECORDS: Fournier became the school's all-time wins leader Jan. 27 and has extended her total to 94 career wins. Vasilieva has recorded 70 wins, which places her two spots away from entering the top 10 mark in all-time career wins. For singles victories in a season, Fournier and Vasilieva are climbing the list recording 19 and 20 wins, respectively, thus far. To make it in to the top 10, each will need to extend their win total to 23. In the 2010 season, Googe and Kankaras made the all-time season singles victories list with 23 wins each while Fournier set the record at 31 wins. Vasilieva ended her season at 27 wins, placing her fourth on the list.
FALL SEASON SUCCESS: Entering the 2012 season, eight Cougars finished the fall portion of the schedule with a winning record. In the season opening tournament, seven Cougars captured first place at the Kansas Invitational; senior Fournier, junior Vasilieva, junior Andjela Kankaras, junior Ksenia Googe, freshman Luzina, freshman Charlotte Koning and freshman Anastasia Romantsova. In the only home tournament of the fall, three players took first place at the Cougar Classic; Vasilieva, Googe and Luzina. Fournier had a strong showing at the ITA Northwest Regional held at Stanford Oct. 21-25, making it to the fourth round of play.
