PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's tennis team will travel to Stanford Oct.21-25 to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional. Teams from Washington, Oregon and California are participating in addition to the Cougars.
In the singles competition, junior Liudmila Vasilieva is seeded No. 14 and senior Elisabeth Fournier is seeded No. 16. Freshman Charlotte Koning, Vasilieva, sophomore Olga Musilovich, freshman Elizaveta Luzina and Fournier will each receive a first round bye.
Junior Andjela Kankaras will open the tournament against Chau Truong of San Jose State. Both freshman Anastasia Romantsova and junior Ksenia Googe will face opponents from Santa Clara in the opening round. Romantsova will play No. 12 Katie Lee and Googe will take on Jessica Marie L. Agra.
In doubles action, the Cougars will have four teams competing. Googe and Romantsova will compete against Sabastiani V. Leon and Chau Truong of San Jose State. Seventh-seeded Luzina and Vasilieva will face off against Catherine Leduc and Elizabeth Searl of St. Mary's.
Fournier and Musilovich will open the tournament against Alice Duranteau and Catalina V. Visico of California. Kanaras and Koning will take on Blair Reed and Julia Wartenburger of San Francisco.
