OJAI,Calif.- The Washington State women's tennis team completed its first day of competition at the Pacific-10 Conference tournament this afternoon.
In the championship draw, Elisabeth Fournier fell to No. 21 Mari Andersson of California 6-1, 6-4. Ksenia Googe lost to No. 2 Maria Sanchez of USC 6-1, 6-1. Liudmila Vasilieva was defeated by ASU's Micaela Hein
In the invitational bracket first round, Andjela Kankaras won her first match 6-2, 6-1 over California's Catie Visico. She also had a victory over Lyndsay Kinstler of USC 6-1, 6-4. Kankaras advances to a quarterfinal match tomorrow at noon against Morgan Thomas of UCLA.
Quarterfinal singles play continues tomorrow afternoon, while doubles action kicks off in the morning. The Cougars have two teams in the championship bracket and one in the invitational draw.
