WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- Marissa Tschida (senior, Missoula, Mont.) was named the Pacific-10 Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week for April 25-30, for her performances at the WSU vs. Washington Dual Meet in Seattle.
Tschida (pronounced cheetah) won the javelin for the fourth consecutive year at the dual meet between the cross-state and conference rivals. She threw a season-best distance of 178-feet, 11 inches (54.54m) which is the second-best throw nationally this year. The No. 21 ranked WSU women's team defeated Washington by a score of 92-71.
Tschida is the defending Pac-10 Women's Javelin Champion and the current WSU record-holder with a 2010 toss of 186-1 (56.71m). This is her second Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor, having received the award in 2008 as a freshman.
