WSU Swimming to Take on Boise State

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University swim team will host 2009-10 WAC champion Boise State, Jan. 21...the dual meet will begin at 5 p.m., at Gibb Pool...the Cougars are currently 5-1 in dual meets this season while the Broncos come in at 9-1...each team's only loss came at the hands of UCLA.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars are coming home after competing in the USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix last weekend...the three-day event featured some of the world's best swimmers including Olympians Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff...Rugile Mileisyte earned two individual top-10 finishes in the 50 freestyle (sixth) and the 100 freestyle (seventh)...WSU relays also performed well, winning the 800 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay.

2009-10 RECAP: The Cougars went 2-4 last season with wins against Northern Arizona and Seattle...team finished the season with 11 WSU all-time top-10 performances and set two school records...senior Michaela Ahlin represented the Cougars at the NCAA Championships for the second-consecutive year.

2010-11 SQUAD: The squad returns 14 letterwinners including seniors Jennifer Dean, Rugile Mileisyte and Talor Whitaker...trio of senior leaders hold three individual school records, contributed to five relay records and 13 spots on the Cougars' all-time top-10 lists...team also welcomes nine newcomers this season.

COACHING STAFF: Head coach Erica Quam is in her ninth season at WSU...under Quam the Cougars have set 19 school records and earned 92 different spots on school's all-time top 10 lists...she is joined by assistant coach Lindsay Henahan and student assistant coach Jesse Grow...Henahan is in her third season while Grow is in his second.
