PULLMAN, Wash.- For the eighth time in the program's history, the Washington State women's tennis team earned the Glenn Kranc Memorial Award presented to the WSU athletic team with the highest semester grade point average.

The tennis team's GPA for the fall 2000 semester was 3.57. The mark establisihed both a team and Washington State record for team GPA in a semester.

"With four freshmen on this year's team, three of which are from out of the country, I am extremely proud of our effort," WSU head coach Cari Groce said. "This shows how much our players are dedicated to academics as well as tennis. It reinforces how much we stress the 'student-athlete' part of the college experience."

Groce added, "I would like to thank Kelly Hewitt in the academic counseling office for her work with the tennis team and the entire academic staff for their efforts to make this possible."
