Marie Muai is a junior thrower on the WSU Track & Field Team from Tacoma, Washington. She has rewritten the school weight throw record twice this season and three times in her career. She also has the third-best hammer throw in school history. Marie has five brothers including twins Mike and Jeff who came to WSU after completing their church missions. Jeff walked-on the Cougar football team last fall and Mike is trying out this spring. Marie is majoring in history at WSU. Spend a few minutes getting to know this affable Cougar student-athlete.

  • Sport to watch in person: Football. I've grown up around it and its exciting.
  • Movie: The Other Sister
  • Fast Food Restaurant: McDonald's
  • Color: Pink
  • Class at WSU: History 395, The History of Baseball with Professor Frank Hill - I love that class and I know nothing about baseball.

Most linked site on the internet - My bank website to see if I'm overdrawn again.

CD you're currently listening to - A mixed CD that Shannon Rance made for me. It has Fabolous, Little Mo, Usher, and Kanye West.

Papa John's or Little Caesar's pizza - Papa John's, no doubt.

Coolest person you've ever met - I like my brothers a lot and they're pretty cool but I grew up with them. Ellannee Richardson is one of my favorites. Even before she became a coach, if I had a problem, she and Whitney Evans were always willing to talk and help.

Most fun event to compete in - Not shot put! Discus or hammer or weight throw, just anything but shot put. I like the hammer the most because you can get a really good tan when you're out there.

Do you have any superstitions - I used to just shave one leg before competition and the next morning shave the other one but everyone made fun of me so I stopped.

What do you want to do when you grow up? I want to be a high school history teacher and a mother.

Best thing about Washington State (Pullman) - The weather. I love the weather here. And its close to home and I have family here.

Is your life more like an episode of Survivor, American Idol or the OC? Oh dear, American Idol because everyone keeps telling me I need to stop and find some new tunes.

Favorite cable TV channel - BET but I don't get that here so MTV.

Most frequently dialed number on your cell phone - My parent's number. I call my dad every night at home and my mom on her way to work, she works nights. After that it's my brothers because I am always bothering them.

On a car trip, would you rather drive or ride? I'd drive because I feel more safe knowing I'm behind the wheel instead of some psycho who would probably fall asleep and crash into a median or something.

Weight room equipment you hate the most - I like the Versa Climber, thanks to Coach Levenseller (football). He's really gung ho about that machine. I don't like the platform (lifting). I don't like the clean, it hurts my shoulder.

Pet peeve - When a girl sits right next to a guy driving a truck instead of in the passenger seat. That drives me nuts. Are you that dumb that you can't just sit on the other side of seat?

Phrase or word you use too much - Hey Lady. I sing it to people. It is from the movie Love and Basketball and Zapp&Roger sings it.
