MENIFEE, Calif. -- - Jennifer Dodd (Portland, Ore.) fired a final round 72 to finish 11th in leading Washington State to a sixth place finish at the 16-team Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic Tuesday at Menefee Lakes Country Club.
Pepperdine captured team honors with a three-round score of 881, while Oklahoma State finished second at 896. Host UCLA was third at 899, following in order by Texas A&M 904, California 906 and WSU 912.
Just eight strokes separated WSU's top four golfers, who all finished in the top 30. Dodd finished with a score of 224, eight strokes back of the leader, Pepperdine's Lindsey Wright. Jenny Ballou (Portland, Ore.) shot a 226 to finish 15th, while Tasha Browner (Tarzana, Calif.) came in tied for 23rd at 230. Next was Donnal Bell (Prince George, BC) , tied for 30th at 232, while Shanelle Roberts (Tacoma, Wash.) carded a 248 and tied for 79th.
Dodd saved her best round for the final day. She started the tournament Monday with a 77 and then shot 75 late in the day over the 5,962 yard course. Browner, who had two rounds of 77 Monday, came in with a 76 over the final 18 holes Tuesday.
Next action for the Cougar women golfers will be April 3-4 at the Dixie Classic at St. George, Utah.
