OJAI, Calif. -- Freshman Lorena Arias and senior Moniek van de Ven advanced to the semifinals of the Pacific-10 Championships Invitational Doubles Tournament with a pair of wins Friday.

Arias and van de Ven defeated Oregon's Vickie Gunderson and Valerie Young 8-3 to open the day and followed with an 8-3 win over Bernadette Bayani and Maureen Diaz from USC.

The duo will face Erin Boisclair and Erin Hoe of Washington at 2 p.m., Saturday.

The wins by Arias and van de Ven were the only two of the day for the Cougars.

Senior Tamara Filipovic and Erica Perkins lost their first round championship doubles match 8-2 to Arizona's Debbie Larocque and Laresa Marino. The Wildcats tandem of Michelle Gough and Sophie Regnier knocked off WSU's senior Ana Maria Moura and freshman Stacy McKenna 8-5.

In invitational singles play, Arias lost her quarterfinals match to USC's Krissy Hamilton 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
