THIS WEEK: Washington State opens it Pacific-10 Conference schedule with matches at Arizona, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. and at Arizona State, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: Washington State is ranked 25th nationally by Soccer America and 27th by Soccer Buzz...receiving votes in National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Soccer Times polls...first time Cougars have been ranked four consecutive weeks since WSU appeared in five straight Soccer America polls Sept. 6-Oct. 4, 1994.

RECORD SETTING START: Washington State posted a 7-1-2 mark in nonconference matches, its best record in school history...equals best start in school history with 2000 team (8-2-0).

ARIZONA ATTACK: Nine members of the WSU team are natives of Arizona...Kiersten Dallstream (5 G, 2 A,11 PTS) from Fountain Hills, Mallory Fox (4 G, 1 A, 9 PTS) from Scottsdale, Carly Dobratz (2 G, 2 A, 6 PTS) from Gilbert, Jenny Christoph (3 A, 3 PTS) from Scottsdale, Maggie Dougher (3 A, 3 PTS) from Scottsdale and Shaye Harrel (1 A, 1 PT) from Scottsdale have accounted for 57.8 percent goals, 70.6 percent assists and 61.8 percent of points this season.

HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS: In its first nine matches, Washington State has 13 of its 15 goals after intermission...Cougars scored three first half goals in 4-0 win at Idaho, Oct. 5...WSU has scored 12 times in the second half and twice in the second overtime.

EARLY DEFENSE: The Cougars have given up eight goals this season, only two in the first half...Utah scored in the second minute of a 3-3 tie, Sept. 9 and Idaho State tallied its lone goal of a 1-1 tie in the 24th minute, Sept. 30.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS: Arizona is 6-5-0, including 3-5-0 at home...common opponents with the Cougars include Utah (lost 2-1) and Nevada (won 2-1)...Jasmin Day leads the Wildcats with four goals and nine points.

WSU-ARIZONA SERIES: Washington State leads 8-3-1...Cougars are 3-1-1 in Tucson...WSU has won the last two meetings, both in Pullman...Allison Scurich scored the game-winner and Anna Miller had an assist in last year's 1-0 victory.

ABOUT THE SUN DEVILS: Arizona State is 6-5-0, including 3-3-0 at home...common opponents with Washington State include Idaho State (won 1-0) and UNLV (lost 2-1)...Karin Volpe has four goals and 10 points to pace the Sun Devils.

WSU-ARIZONA STATE SERIES: The Sun Devils lead 9-3...Cougars own 3-2 mark in Tempe...Arizona State has won five straight.
