AUSTIN, Texas -- A trio of Washington State track and field competitors reached NCAA Regional Qualifying marks Friday at the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays being held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas Austin campus.
Junior Drew Ulrick (Spokane, Wash.) won the men's B section discus with an NCAA Regional Qualifying throw of 180-feet, 5 inches (54.99m). He went on to throw in the A section where he also threw a lesser NCAA RQ of 174-1 (53.06m) for 11th. Matt Lamb (freshman, Emmett, Idaho) did not get a legal throw in the discus.
McKenzie Garberg (sophomore, Benton City, Wash.) finished third in the women's discus with a personal-best and NCAA RQ throw of 164-7 (50.17m).
Out of the 67 competitors, Cougar senior James McSwain (Las Vegas) was one of nine to qualify for the men's 100m dash final with a prelim time of 10.47 seconds, seventh-fastest and an NCAA RQ time.
Robert Williams (freshman, Riverside, Calif.) did not advance to the 110m hurdles final after running a prelim time of 14.87w.
The competition for the Cougars at the Texas Relays continues Saturday in Austin.
