PULLMAN, Wash - Washington State women's tennis freshman Ekaterina Burduli was selected as the fifth alternate Thursday for the NCAA Singles Championship in Athens, Ga., May 23-28.
Burduli will make her way to Georgia if five or more of the 64 players selected withdraw from competition.
"We are so proud of Ekaterina making waves on the national level," Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart said. "We're looking forward to the next three years with her in our program."
Earlier this season, Burduli upset No. 6 Dea Sumantri of Washington 7-5, 6-1 marking the highest ranked opponent defeated by a Cougar in school history.
The Israel-native compiled 15 singles victories this season and led the team in dual match victories with 14.
