PULLMAN, Wash. - Three Washington State tennis players are ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Region. There are eight regions across the country and players were ranked on their records in fall play.
Seniors Chris Martinez and Orsolya Sallai combine to create the No. 9 doubles team. The tandem recorded five wins this fall. They reached the championship in the Cougar Classic where they fell to Idaho's Sunel Nieuwoudt/Jessica Hubbard 8-4.
Senior Nora Gaal is No. 24 in singles. Gaal notched five wins this year in fall tournament play. The highlights coming in an ITA Regional first-round win over Christine Tilley of Nevada 6-0, 6-0 and a second-round win over Jessie Strunk of Santa Clara 6-3, 6-0.
"This is a good way to end the fall season," Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart said. "I'm proud of their accomplishments and we look forward to improving even more in the spring."
