REDMOND, Wash. - Washington State's Kim Welch lived up to her pre-season accolades with a Top 5 finish in the 22nd Annual Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the par-72, 6,030 yard Sahalee Golf and Country Club, Wednesday.

Welch, who was selected as a Pre-Season All-American by Golfweek, led the team with 15 birdies for the 54-hole tournament and carded a 76 (+4) on the course. Welch completed the tournament at 6-over (222), to finish at a tie for fourth, just three shots out of the lead.

"Kim stepped up, performed well, and showed everyone why she is an All-American," WSU Head Coach Walt Williams said.

Welch, who was tied for the lead at one point during the final round, recorded her 12th Top 5 finish and 16th Top 10 finish in her career at WSU.

The Cougars played among some of the top teams and players in the nation, including three Pre-Season All-Americans by Golfweek and four Top 25 teams in the nation by Golfstat. The Cougars completed the tournament shooting 976, giving them a 14th place finish.

To round out the Cougar contingent, sophomore Stephanie Parsley finished in 50th place, while junior Jay-Lee Longbottom tied at 62nd. Teammate Heather O'Leary finished the tournament in 78th, followed by sophomore Lindsey Bogden at 79th.
