SELECT GROUP OF COUGARS TRAVEL TO UNM CHERRY & SILVER INVITE
A select group of competitors from Washington State University's indoor track and field teams travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Silver & Cherry Invitational Indoor meet this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20 & 21...there will be collegiate and post-collegiate unattached competitors...meet will feature a rare event in the indoor track world: 400m hurdles races...Friday evening field schedule shows men's pole vault plus men's and women's long jump, high jump weight throws with 200m dash, 600m and 400m hurdles races that evening...remaining events take place Saturday beginning at 9 a.m...collegiate teams expected to join host New Mexico are WSU and California...complete results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com, following the meet's completion.

CHERRY & SILVER INVITE MEET FACILITY
The UNM Cherry & Silver Invite will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center, located downtown...has nearly identical layout as the Arkansas Randal Tyson Track Center where recent NCAA Indoor Championships have been held until this year...facility has a 200m, 60-degree banked Mondo surface track with 60m straightaways running the entire length of the facility...in 2011 hosted USA Indoor Nationals and NCAA DII Indoor Championships.

ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 39th season with the Cougar track program; 18th year as a head coach, 17th year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws), head coach for cross country Pete Julian (distance), and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays) and Matt McGee (jumps)...volunteer coaches include Jeshua Anderson, Tim Riley and Wes McCann.

NCAA DESCENDING ORDER LISTS
The NCAA has automatic qualifying standards for Indoor competition that can be found on the 2012 Indoor Bests Lists posted on the WSU website (www.wsucougars.com)...national descending order lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org).

COUGAR INDOOR INVITATIONAL ON TAP
The Cougar Indoor Invitational is Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27 and 28, in the WSU Indoor Facility...collegiate men's and women's teams from UCLA, Idaho, Utah State, and Montana will join WSU in the two-day scoring meet...the Cougar Multi Meet also takes place those two days with a men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon...for complete schedule of events, go to www.wsucougars.com...there is no charge for spectators.
