JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - Led by a second place finish from senior two-time All-American Kim Welch, the Washington State women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Oregon Duck Women's Invitational at the par-72, 6,103-yard Shadow Hills Country Club, Tuesday.

Welch just missed capturing her fourth consecutive individual title at the event, finishing one stroke behind Long Beach State's Kay Hoey. Welch finished the tournament with a total of 219 (+3). In five tournaments this spring, Welch has yet to finish out of the top six and has recorded two tournament victories.

Junior Anastasia Kostina recorded her eighth top 10 finish in nine tournaments this season. Shooting 223 (+7), Kostina finished in sixth place. Kostina is now one top 10 finish away from tying the WSU record for top 10 finishes in a season. Welch recorded nine top 10 finishes in 2003.

Senior Jay-Lee Longbottom finished tied for 20th, shooting 233 (+17). Longbottom is now two top 25 finishes away from tying Jennifer Dodd (2001) for second place on WSU's all-time list for career top 25 finishes.

Washington State was among a quartet of Pacific-10 conference schools leading the way at the tournament. The Cougars (No. 23 Golfstat/No. 23 GolfWeek) finished in fourth place shooting 917 (+53). Tournament champion California shot 908 (+44), host school Oregon shot 909 (+45) and Stanford (No. 19 Golfstat/No. 20 GolfWeek) shot 913 (+49).

The Cougars finished ahead of conference foes University of Washington (No. 2 Golfstat/No. 4 GolfWeek) and Oregon State. The Huskies finished the tournament with a team total of 938 (+74), while the Beavers posted a team score of 954 (+90).

Senior Maria Kostina shot 242 (+26) and freshman Tracy Broders shot 253 (+37) to round out the scoring for the Cougars.

Final results from the men's side: The Washington State men's golf team finished 16th at the Oregon Duck Men's Invitational, Tuesday, at the par-72, 6,854-yard Eugene Country Club. Sophomore Chris Collins fired a final round 72 to lead the Cougars with a tournament total of 223. Sophomore Kevin Chen shot 224, sophomore Logan Toskey shot 227 and senior Ben Bryson shot 237 to round out the scoring for the Cougars.
