UW PAC-10 INVITATIONAL MEET NEXT FOR COUGS: The WSU track and field teams will traverse the Cascade Mountains to compete at the Pac-10 Invitational Meet, Friday and Saturday at the University of team scoring...Friday's four running events begin at 8 p.m...Saturday's events start at 9 a.m.

I Indoor Track & Field the last rankings, Feb. 18, the WSU women are tied for 23rd and the men are not ranked......USTCA Team Power Rankings as of Feb. 24, the Cougar women are 18th and the men are 30th...Team Power Rankings are dual meet predictors and demonstrate team depth.

ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES: Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 30th season with the Cougar track program; ninth year as a head coach, eighth year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program...he is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell, and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald, Kris Grimes, Francesca Green and Jason Drake...volunteer coaches are Dan O'Brien and Michael Friedberg.

MPSF INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGHLIGHTS: The WSU women took third place and the Cougar men finished seventh at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at Nampa's Idaho Center last weekend. The Stanford women and UCLA men were the team winners. WSU winners included Tiffany Giles (400m, NCAA PQ and school record time 54.08), Whitney Evans (high jump, improved NCAA PQ 1.83m/6-0), and Bennie Chatman (60m, 8.65). Anna Blue took second place in the 3k in a school indoor record 9:42.22 while Danny Wolf was third in the men's 3k after suffering a calf strain in the final lap. Other women scoring points included Ellannee Richardson (200m, third; 60m hurdles second), Blessing Ufodiama (triple jump, third; long jump, eighth), Monique Jessie (400m, third), Brittany Hinchcliffe (weight throw, fifth), Diana Pickler (60m hurdles, seventh), and Giles (200m, eighth). The Cougar women's 4x400m relay team of Giles, Jessie, Tamara Gulley, and Richardson finished second while the WSU DMR team of Molly Bull, Julie Pickler, Angelita Green and Blue took third place with a time of 11:50.00. Other Cougar men scoring included Kurtiss Dilley (high jump, fourth), Martin Boston (long jump, fourth), Rick Collins (pole vault, fourth), Tyson Byers (pole vault, fifth and improved freshman school record to 5.15m/16-10 3/4), Justin Ireland (800m, seventh), James McSwain (long jump, eighth), Tim Gehring (shot put, eighth). The WSU men's DMR of (Josh Leyk, Jon Manthey, Reid Carrell was seventh and the 4x400m relay of of Darion Powell, Lamarr Kirk, Dan Brink and Qieed Ishmael finished sixth.
