AZUSA, Calif. -- Washington State's Julie Pickler scored 3,053 points in the first day of heptathlon events at the Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) Multi-Events being held at Azusa Pacific University Wednesday.
The Cougar redshirt freshman from Sasche, Texas, is in 11th place after the first day's events.
Pickler ran the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.46 seconds, high jumped 5-feet, 3 3/4 inches (1.62m), threw the shot put 31-2 1/2 (9.51m), and ran the 200m dash in a wind-aided PR time of 25.04.
"It's disappointing for Julie but she's been able to train only a few weeks after her plantar fascia problem calmed down," Cougar Head Coach Rick Sloan said. "I'm hoping for good events Thursday. And then if we can get in three good weeks of practice before the conference meet, she'll be good to go."
The Mt. SAC heptathlon competition concludes Thursday with the women competing in the 1ong jump, javelin, and the 800m run.
