WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Washington State University's Rick Sloan was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's 2000 Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

The Cougar head coach for both the men's and women's programs, Sloan three-peats as MPSF Women's Coach of the Year, also winning the award in 1998 and in 1999, when he also doubled as the MPSF men's indoor Coach of the Year honoree.

Sloan was selected in near unanimous fashion after leading the Cougars to their second consecutive MPSF women's team championship with 136.5 points. Earlier this week, Sloan was selected as the United States Track Coaches Association West Region Women's Coach of the Year for the 2000 Indoor season. He is currently in his fifth year as head coach of the combined men's and women's program, sixth year as the head coach for men, and 27th season as a coach with the Cougar track program.
