Washington State Women's Golf

Menifee, Calif. --- Washington State senior Jennifer Dodd used a 74 in the final round of the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic to finish the event tied for 24th.

Dodd's 54-hole total of 226 was a season-best, and gave the Portland, Ore., native her 23rd top 25 finish in 41 career events.

Dodd's teammates stepped up in the second and third rounds after a disappointing first day of competition. The Cougars fired a 306 in the second round, and a 314 in the third to move past Brigham Young for 16th in the 18-team field.

Junior Tasha Browner climbed 28 spots up the leader board to place 50th. Browner recovered from a first round 80 with rounds of 77 and 75 on Tuesday. Freshmen Natalie Bratkowski and Emily De'Ath had a big hand in the second round 306, as Bratkowski fired a career-best 75, and De'Ath carded a 77.

Pepperdine darted past tournament-host UCLA and Oklahoma, thanks to a 286 in the second round, to grab team medalist honors. The Sooners finished four strokes back in second, while Pac-10 powers Southern Cal, California, and UCLA swept the three through five spots.

Katherine Hull helped make it a Pepperdine sweep at the awards stand. Hull fired a three-under par 213 to fend off three players tied at 216.

Washington State will not return to the course until Apr. 6-8 at the Ping/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
