WSU Women Finish Eighth in the Pac-10

Eugene, Ore. - The Washington State women's golf team finished eighth at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships, moving ahead of Northwest rival Oregon State in the final round after posting a 318 (+30) at the par-72, 6,203-yard Eugene Country Club. Entering round three WSU trailed eighth by a stroke, but the team finished two strokes clear of the Beavers.

The Cougar's tournament total of 965 (+101) placed the team in eighth for the fourth-consecutive year. Only twice have the Cougars finished better, with seventh-place efforts in both 2003 and 2005.

Once again freshman Emma Betland was the low scorer for the Cougars, making it her fourth tournament this spring as the team leader. Betland and fellow freshman Ali Thompson have led the team in nine out of the 10 tournaments played during the 2009-10 season.

Betland posted a final round of 76 (+4) to grab the number one position away from teammate Allison Travis who posted an 82 (+10) in the final round. The freshman carded a tournament total of 236 (+20) finishing in a tie for 34th, followed closely by Travis who had a three-round total of 241 (+25) to finish in a tie for 38th.

Sophomore Kristen Allard had a final round score of 81 (+9) for a three-round total of 244 (+28). Freshman Ali Thompson had the second-lowest final round for the team with a 79 (+7) and finished with a tournament total of 249 (+33).

Freshman Ellen Park tied Thompson with a tournament total of 249 (+33), after a final round of 82 (+10).
