TEMPE, Ariz. - Washington State University shot a final round score of 304, its best round of the tournament, as it concluded play at the 2011 Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championships Tuesday, played on the par 72, 6,230-yard Karsten Golf Course.
The Cougars total marked an 11-stroke improvement from Monday and was 19 shots better than their opening round. WSU finished the three-day event with a total of 942 and in 10th place. USC led wire-to-wire as it fired an even-par 864 for a five-stroke victory over Arizona (869). UCLA (873), California (880) and Stanford (884) rounded out the top five.
The Cougars were led Tuesday by senior Allison Travis, who shot a one-over, 73, the best round by a Cougar during the tournament. Her season-low round included two birdies, three bogeys and 13 pars and gave her a three-day total of 235, placing her tied for 42nd. Sophomore Emma Betland led WSU as she finished at 233, tied for 37th, following an 80 Tuesday.
Freshman Mallory Kent (238) had her best round of the tournament with a 76, placing her in a tie for 44th, while junior Kristen Allard finished 47th after her 77 Tuesday, also her best round of the event. Sophomore Ali Thompson ended with a 78 and in 48th place with a three-round total of 243.
The Pac-10 Championships concluded the Cougars' 2011 schedule.
