THIS WEEK: The Washington State (1-0-0) soccer team travels to Portland for a 7 p.m. match, Friday, Aug. 26...Cougars open their home season at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28 against Seattle.
LAST WEEK: The Cougars opened their 2011 season with a 3-1 victory at Hawaii, Aug. 19...sophomore midfielder Eileen Maes scored three second half goals as Washington State overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit.
MAES NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: After scoring three goals in less than 22 minutes during the second half at Hawaii, Aug. 19, sophomore Eileen Maes was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week...second hat trick of the Oakland, Calif., native's career and her second player of the week recognition.
