THIS WEEK
The Washington State (4-1-0) soccer team travels to Charlottesville, Va., for the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic...Cougars will play tournament-host Virginia, Friday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. Pacific...Washington State will battle UCF at 8 a.m. Pacific, Sunday, Sept. 11.

LAST WEEK
The Cougars won a pair of home matches...Washington State defeated Wyoming 3-0, Sept. 2 and downed Weber State 3-1, Sept. 4...in the victory over the Cowgirls, sophomore Micaela Castain, the Cougars' leading scorer in 2010, netted her first-two goals of the season...Castain added the game-winner against the Wildcats.

COUGARS BRING IN RECORD CROWD
Washington State set a single-match home attendance record when 1,273 fans watched the Cougars' 1-0 victory over Seattle at Lower Soccer Field, Aug. 28...highest attended match in the country that day according to research found at BigSoccer.com...victory was 100th all-time for Washington State at home...Cougars are averaging 895 fans per match at home this season.

FAST START
In Washington State's 3-1 victory over Weber State, Sept. 4, junior Brandi Vega scored just 36 seconds into the match for the earliest goal in Cougar history...Washington State jumped out to a 3-0 lead at 7:46, marking the least amount of time needed for the Cougars to score their first-three goals in a match.

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH Matt Potter
Currently in his ninth season, Cougar Head Coach Matt Potter has amassed a school-record 80 victories...only Washington State mentor to guide the program to back-to-back NCAA postseason appearances (2008 and 2009).

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS
Virginia is 6-0-0 and ranked nationally in all-three major polls...Cavaliers are No. 4 (Soccer Times), No. 7 (NSCAA) and No. 10 (Soccer America)...Virginia has played all of its matches at home this season and owns a 3-0 victory over Pac-12 member Arizona State.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
UCF is 2-1-1 and plays Penn State, Friday...Knights are 1-0-1 away from Orlando and are averaging 2.5 goals per match overall.

NEW FOES
Washington State has never played Virginia or Central Florida in women's soccer.

MAES NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After scoring three goals in less than 22 minutes during the second half at Hawaii, Aug. 19, sophomore Eileen Maes was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week...second hat trick of the Oakland, Calif., native's career and her second player of the week recognition.

The Cougars visit Washington in the regular season's final match for both schools, Thursday, Nov. 3...match will be televised by Fox Sports Channel as the NSCAA Game of the Week.

Washington State's roster consists of 14 returnees (13 letterwinners) and 10 newcomers (nine true freshmen and one transfer)...Cougars have 20 Americans and four foreign student-athletes (three Canadians and one Australian)...of the Americans, six are from Arizona, six from California, five from Washington, two from Nevada and one from Colorado.
