Cougars Host Aggies, Bulldogs This Weekend

This Week: The Washington State University swim team will be back in action when it faces New Mexico State, Friday and takes on Fresno State, Saturday...both meets will be held at Gibb Pool with events beginning at 5 p.m., Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Cougar Catch-Up: WSU is 2-0 this season in dual meets after taking down Idaho and Seattle...the Cougars finished second at the Pacific Invitational and are coming off a win at the Debbie Pipher Memorial Invitational where Rugile Mileisyte was named Most Valuable Swimmer...Mileisyte won the 50 and 100 freestyle, and was a member of three winning relay teams.

WSU Last Season: The Cougars went 2-4 last season with wins against Northern Arizona and Seattle...the team finished the season with 11 WSU all-time top-10 performances and set two school records...senior Michaela Ahlin represented the Cougars at the NCAA Championships for the second-consecutive year.

2010-11 Outlook: The squad returns 14 letter winners including seniors Jennifer Dean, Rugile Mileisyte and Talor Whitaker...the trio of senior leaders hold three individual school records, contributed to five relay records and 13 spots on the Cougars' all-time top-10 lists...the team also welcomes nine newcomers this season.

Scouting New Mexico State: The Aggies are 2-2 so far this season...both wins came against North Texas and both losses were at the hands of Boise State...the journey to Pullman will serve as the team's first road trip of the 2010-11 season.

Scouting Fresno State: Fresno State is 1-1 in dual meets this season...the Bulldogs won handily against Fresno Pacific, but suffered a close loss to Nevada...WSU has already seen Fresno State this season at the Pacific Invitational...the Cougars finished second at the event while the Bulldogs took fourth.

Coaching Staff: Head coach Erica Quam is in her ninth season at WSU...under Quam the Cougars have set 19 school records and earned 92 different spots on school's all-time top 10 lists...she is joined by assistant coach Lindsay Henahan and student assistant coach Jesse Grow...Henahan is in her third season while Grow is in his second.
