Women's Tennis Places Five in National Rankings

PULLMAN, Wash. - Junior Erica Perkins, ranked 51st nationally in singles, heads a list of five Washington State women's tennis players in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association's poll of the 2000-01 season.

Joining Perkins in the singles rankings is freshman Anna Dybicz who is tied for 84th. Dybicz and fellow freshman Lorena Arias are the Cougars highest rated doubles tandem at 49th.

Senior Tamara Filipovic and freshman Stacy McKenna are tied for 50th in the doubles rankings.

The Cougars, who were ranked 66th in last year's final poll, are ranked 62nd in the current poll.

All nine Pacific-10 teams that participate in women's tennis are ranked this week, including top-ranked Stanford. The Cardinal are followed by California (fifth), Arizona State (seventh), UCLA (ninth), USC (12th), Arizona (24th), Washington (26th), Oregon (54th) and WSU.
