WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD MEET INFORMATION FOR JAN. 24-25, 2003

PARTICIPANTS: Open meet

ENTRY FEE: $5 per person including Participants, Staff and Spectators. Schools may provide a roster of competitors, coaches, managers, and trainers for ease of entry and payment. There will be no charge for spectators at the Friday, Jan. 24, weight throws events.

PARKING: Parking is available in the Yellow lot off of Stadium Way between Beasley Coliseum and WSU Tennis Courts.

ENTRIES: For ease of meet operations we are requesting that each school fill out the enclosed roster and check all possible running events that an athlete might compete in. We will not hold athletes to those events and scatches will not be necessary on meet day.

PREFERRED LANES: Preferred Lanes on the straight- away: 5-4-6-3-7-2-8-1 Preferred Lanes on the oval: 4-5-6-3 (300m); 4-5-3-6-2-1 (600m)

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Running Events: All runners and RELAY TEAMS must check in and pick up hip numbers at the Clerk's Area (NE corner of the facility) immediately following the first call for each event.

Field Events: All field athletes must check in at the event site no later than 15 minutes before scheduled start time.

Competitors failing to comply with check-in procedure will not be allowed to participate in that event.

HORIZONTAL JUMPS & THROWS Athletes will be placed in flights during check-in at the event site. LJ/TJ will have four (4) attempts. SP/WT will have three (3) trials, with the top eight (8) having three (3) final throws.

VERTICAL JUMPS Jumping order will be determined during athlete check-in.

RUNNING EVENTS Heat and lane assignments will be made during the clerking of each event (consult map for clerking area). Athletes with the best lifetime marks will participate in the first heat of each event.

IMPLEMENT WEIGH-IN: Weigh in will be located in the SW corner of the facility. All implements to be used in competition must be weighed in 30 minutes prior to the start of that event. Please label your implements for identification. Illegal implements will be secured and may be picked up at the conclusion of the competition. Competitors may take their own throwing implements following competition.

NOTE: DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, ONLY SOFT-SHELL WEIGHTS WILL BE ALLOWED

OFFICIALS: Selected by WSU. Assigned by Scott Randall and Rosie Krauss, Officials Coordinators.

RULES OF COMPETITION: NCAA Track & Field Rules.

SCORING: Non-Scoring

FACILITY INFORMATION: 1) Track and Approach Surfaces - 14mm Mondo Super-X *6-42" Lanes on the large radius (68 feet) oval *8-48" Lanes on the straight (See Diagram) 2) Required Spikes - 1/4 inch pyramid maximum 3) Throwing Circle - Brushed Concrete 4) Starting Blocks - provided by WSU (UCS & Gill)

WARM-UP /COOL DOWN: Hollingbery Fieldhouse, adjacent to the Outdoor Track (approx. 400m away), will be available for warm-up and cool down. A final warm-up area will be located at the east end of the competition facility. This space is limited and to be used only for last second preparations just prior to competition.

ENTRANCE TO COMPETITION FACILITY: Everyone will enter the facility through the center west door (please consult your facility map).

ACCESS TO TRACK AND FIELD EVENT AREA: Only currently competing athletes, meet officials, and authorized athletic trainers, staff, and photographers will be allowed on the track or infield area. Each fully participating school will be issued one (1) infield pass for each gender.

OFFICIAL WARM-UP AND COMPETITIVE AREAS: Personal stereo devices (e.g. Walkman, portable CD players, radios, headsets, etc.) are prohibited in the official warm-up and competitive areas. The Meet Referee will issue one warning. A second violation will result in disqualification from the meet. [Per PAC-10 SPR 18-3-d-(3)]

LOCKER ROOMS: Locker rooms will be available, however, your team may choose to dress and shower at the hotel. If your team would like access to a locker room and towels, please indicate your request on the enclosed Visitor Information Form. Towels will be provided. Locker rooms will not be secured. RESULTS: Will be posted at the site and available on the Washington State Athletics web site www.wsucougars.com approximately 1 hour after the last event.
