PULLMAN, Wash. - Chukwuemeka `Chuks' Iroegbu (pronounced Chooks Ee-rogue-boo) will attend Washington State University and join the men's basketball team for the 2011-12 season as a non-scholarship student-athlete, WSU Head Coach Ken Bone announced Thursday.

"Chuks is both a great kid and student and we're excited to have him join the team as a walk-on," Bone said. "Last season we had great contributions from walk-ons Will DiIorio and Ben Loewen and are looking forward to all that Chuks will bring to the team."

A native of Elk Grove, Calif., Iroegbu (6-foot-4, 200, guard) attended Franklin High School where he was a three-year starter. As a senior he averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds a game, while compiling six double-doubles. He led Franklin HS to the third round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs and the second round of the NorCal regional tournament as the Wildcats finished 25-7 overall and 10-0 in league.

WSU's incoming class includes transfers Royce Woolridge (6-3, 182, G, Phoenix/Kansas) and D.J. Shelton (6-9, 220, F, Rialto, Calif./Citrus College) and incoming freshmen DaVonté (Duh-Von-Tay) Lacy (6-4, 200, G, Tacoma Wash./Curtis HS) and Greg Sequele (Suh-Kay-Lay) (6-8, 225, F, Los Angeles/Ribet Academy).
