What's Happening: The Washington State women's basketball team concludes it exhibition schedule Saturday, Nov. 13 against Baden Sports...tip-off is at 2 p.m. at Friel Court at Beasley Coliseum...admission is free...the Cougars open the 2004-05 campaign at home against Boise State, Friday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m...the Boise State contest is the opening game of a doubleheader with the men's team...the Cougar men face Montana State following the women's game...among the players on the Baden Sports roster is Cougar alumnae Kristin Erickson, who played at WSU from 1994-97.

Cougars Win First Exhibition: Kate Benz recorded a double-double of 16 points and 23 rebounds to lead the Cougars to a 67-46 win over Team Concept in women's basketball exhibition action, Nov. 6 at Bohler Gym...Benz led of trio of Cougars who scored in double figures as the senior duo of Emma Joneby and Jessica Perry tallied 11 points each...Benz's rebound performance would have been a single-game school record if it had occurred in the regular season...the sophomore from Portland, Ore., tallied 18 defensive and five offensive boards in leading the Cougars to 54-36 rebounding...the Cougars played their first game at Bohler Gym since Dec. 10, 1996 when the team faced Stanford.

Coaching Staff: Sherri Murrell, who coached the University of the Pacific to four consecutive winning seasons, is in her third season as head coach of the Cougars...while at Pacific, Murrell coached the Tigers to a 68-46 record including a 40-20 mark in Big West Conference play...the Tigers' 19 wins in 2002 were the most wins by the program since 1995...Murrell has a mark of 128-127 in her nine-year coaching career...assistant Mark Lewis brings 19 years of coaching experience to the program... Lewis, who is in his third season at WSU, spent five years (1996-2001) as an assistant at Arizona State...assistants Lisa Fisher and Christopher Holland also return for their third season as Cougars...both served as assistants on Murrell's staff at the University of the Pacific during the 2001-02 season...prior to coming to Pacific, Fisher coached at Northeastern in Boston, Mass., where she was an assistant during the 2000-01 season...preceding her coaching at Northeastern, Fisher was at Portland State from 1996-2000, where she also worked with Murrell from 1996 to 1998... before his year at Pacific, Holland was at Arizona State, where he was a women's basketball team manager for five years...Sarah Holland is in her second year as director of basketball operations...Allen played two seasons for the Dayton Flyers after transferring from Arizona State...while at ASU, Allen was selected to the All-Pac-10 Freshman Team after the 2000 campaign.
