AUSTIN, Texas - The Washington State women's golf team carded its two lowest single rounds of the season and the lowest tournament total at the Challenge at Onion Creek. In a strong field with six nationally-ranked teams, the Cougars finished in 16th ahead of Missouri (47).

The team fired a tournament total of 882 (+42). The second round score of 282 (+2) was the fifth-lowest of the tournament and the lowest round of the season thus far. The last time the Cougars had a better round was at the Spring Invitational in 2008 where they posted a 288 (-3). Also, the first-round score of 291 (+11) is the second-lowest round of the season.

Freshman Ali Thompson has led the team in each of her five events as a collegiate golfer. She finished the tournament in a tie for 15th, her fourth top-25 finish of the season.

Fellow freshman Emma Betland finished second for the cougars once again with two career rounds of her own. She shot a career low with a first-round 71 (+1) and then topped it in the second with a 70 (E) a career low.
