STANFORD, Calif. - Washington State senior Lorena Arias and junior Orsolya Sallai recorded two wins each in consolation singles play to complete competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Regional Sunday.
Arias knocked off Fresno State's Courtney Jantz in the quarterfinal round 6-2, 6-4. She then went on to beat Aude Lambert of St. Mary's in the semifinals 7-5, 6-2.
In the quarterfinal round No. 78 Sallai defeated Kathrin Winterhalter of Fresno State 1-6, 6-2, 1-0(10-6). Sallai handed Idaho's Natalia Kostenko a loss in the Semifinals 6-4, 7-5.
"Lorena and Orsi played absolutely awesome tennis," WSU Head Coach Lisa Hart said. "They both won five straight matches, I was very impressed."
Cougar pair No. 40 Arias/Chris Martinez fell to Stanford's Emilia Anderson/Anne Yelsey 8-2 to end their doubles competition.
