IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Washington State women's golf team is currently in seventh place at the Hawkeye Invitational being played at the par-72 Finkbine Golf Course. The team posted a 317 (+29) in round one and was in 10th place. The second round was suspended due to darkness but only Ali Thompson did not finish her round for the Cougars.

Freshman Thompson is in 13th with a 79 (+7) in the first round and is currently three over through 13 holes of her second round.

Of the finished golfers Kristen Allard leads the team with a two round total of 156 (+12) with the second lowest score in round two, 74 (+2), and is currently in a tie for 21st. Allard improved by eight strokes from round one and moved up 32 spots on the leaderboard. Freshman Emma Betland trails her teammate by only one stroke with a tournament total of 157 (+13) and is currently in a tie for 27th.

Junior Allison Travis carded a two-round total of 161 (+17) with a 78 (+6) in the first round to place her in a tie for 49th. Freshman Ellen Park shot a two-round total of 164 (+20) and is tied for 57th.

Because not everyone finished the second-round many of the standings are skewed and will dramatically change after the round is complete. This could be an advantage for the Cougars since they are one of the few teams with a majority of players done so many of the teams in front of them have a lower scores because they have less holes completed. Being only one stroke back from sixth and 17 back from the leader the team has a great opportunity to move up the leaderboard in day two.

The Hawkeye Invitational will continue tomorrow Oct. 18th with tee times starting at 8 am.
