Cougars Grab Wins at Stanford Invite Track & Field Friday Events

STANFORD -- Washington State's Matt Cronrath and J Hopkins won their sections of the Nike Stanford Invitational Track and Field meet at Cobb Track and Angell Field Friday.

Cronrath (sophomore, Odessa, Wash.) won the third section of the men's 1500m with a PR time of 3-minutes, 52.04 seconds.

J Hopkins (junior, Everett) had the top time of the four sections of the men's 400m hurdles, running a season-best 52.25 seconds. Rashaun Johnson (freshman, West Seattle) had the second-fastest time of the day at 52.44.

In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Ruby Roberts (freshman, Kingston, Wash.) ran a 3000m steeplechase time of 10:48.47 which is eighth-best in school history. In the another section of the steeplechase, Caroline Austin (sophomore, Chehalis, Wash.) ran a personal-record time of 10:50.51 which is ninth-best in WSU all-time records.

Sarah Bobbe (freshman, Vancouver, Wash.) ran a 5000m time of 16:51.31 which is the 10th-fastest 5k time in WSU history.

Stephan Scott-Ellis (sophomore, Tacoma) finished third in the men's long jump invitational with a leap of 24-feet, 3 inches (7.39m).

Senior Anna Layman (Spokane Valley) ran a season-best 1500m time of 4:37.16 for second place in the sixth section.

Shaquana Logan (sophomore, Tacoma) ran a PR time of 13.91w in the women's 100m hurdles prelims which was the ninth-best times, and Ramsey Hopkins (sophomore, San Diego) ran a time of 14.57 in the men's 110m hurdles prelims which was the fifth-fastest. Both will run in the finals Saturday.

The Stanford Invitational continues Saturday.
