WSU TRACK & FIELD CROSS CASCADES FOR MPSF CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Washington State men's and women's track and field teams travel to Seattle for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Fri. and Sat., Feb. 24 & 25, at the Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle...along with fellow Pac-12 Conference members (minus Oregon State and USC but including newcomers Colorado and Utah), and a few Big West schools, this year's meet will have the nationally-ranked BYU men's and women's teams (WCC) competing at the MPSF...Friday events begin at 12:30 p.m. (men's weight throw)...Saturday's events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. (heptathlon 60m hurdles) and conclude with the women's 4x400m relay at 2:30 p.m...Live results will be available at www.gohuskies.com...complete results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com, at the completion of each day's events.
ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 39th season with the Cougar track program; 18th year as a head coach, 17th year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws), head coach for cross country Pete Julian (distance), and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays) and Matt McGee (jumps)...volunteer coaches include Jeshua Anderson, Tim Riley and Wes McCann.
MOUNTAIN PACIFIC SPORTS FEDERATION
Established in 1992 to serve the competitive needs of member institutions from the Big West, Pac-10, Mountain West, Western Athletic and West Coast Conferences, as well as other selected universities in the western United States, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation provides Division-I competition to schools whose primary conferences do not sponsor championships in selected sports...Stanford won the 2011 T&F men's team title, and WSU men were seventh...Oregon women's team won the 2011 team title with WSU ninth.
