KANEOHE, Hawai`i - Led by second place efforts from Kim Welch and Jay-Lee Longbottom, the Washington State women's golf team is in first place after two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the par 72, 5,829 yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, Tuesday.

The senior duo of Longbottom and Welch shot identical rounds of 76 and 83 to complete 36 holes at 15-over 159. The pair is one off the pace of leader Dale Gammie of Hawaii, who shot consecutive rounds of 7-over 79 for a two-round total of 158 (+14).

Two other Cougars are in the top 15 as Maria Kostina is tied for eighth at 164 (+20) while sister Anastasia Kostina is tied for 15th at 167 (+23). Freshman Tracy Broders is 34th with a 36-hole total of 180.

Led by the quartet in the top 15, the Cougars enter Wednesday's final round in first place with a total of 649, 16 strokes ahead of host Hawaii.

Wednesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Hawaiian Time.
