THIS WEEK: The Washington State University men's and women's cross country teams travel to Seattle Saturday, Sept. 15, for the Sundodger Invitational...University of Washington hosts the event...18 Cougars will compete, nine men and nine women...women's 6,000m race will start at 10:25 a.m...men will race 8,000m, start time 11:00 a.m.
WSU RECEIVES RANKINGS: Both the men's and women's teams were recognized in the Sept. 10 Division I Cross Country Regional Rankings...Cougar men ranked sixth in the west region...women ranked seventh...west region includes Wash., Ore., Idaho, Calif., Nev., and Ariz.
DRAKE'S TAKE ON THE SUNDODGER: "For the most part this is what we consider our first meet," head coach Jason Drake said. "It's a good meet and fun to run...the goal is always to run faster than a year ago, and it will be a good measure of where we are at."
THE SUNDODGER: The Sundodger is typically a regional meet that draws teams from Washington, Idaho and Oregon...run takes place on the grass playing fields of Lincoln Park in Seattle...more meet information and directions to Lincoln Park can be found at the UW website, Sundodger Information.

LAST YEAR'S HIGHLIGHTS: The Cougars were tough competitors at the 2006 Sundodger...Haley Paul led the Cougar women with a second place finish...Paul won the Sundodger in 2005...the team finished fourth out of a fourteen team field...Collier Lawrence placed ninth...Isley Gonzalez placed 16th...Meghan Leonard finished 28th...on the men's side, Andrew Jones placed seventh and Drew Polley finished ninth...Dan Geib placed 15th...Chris Williams finished 18th...Chris Concha placed 28th...Sam Alhbeck finished 26th running unattached...men's team placed third overall out of 12 teams competing.
