Cross Country Women Second, Men Third At Boise State Invitational

EAGLE, Idaho - The Washington State women's cross country team placed second, while the men took third against various Northwest competitors at the Boise State Cross Country Invitational at Eagle Island State Park Saturday.

Freshman Ian Johnson captured first place in 24:28 over the 8,000 meter course, while fellow Cougar Scott Johnson took fifth in 24:34. Kyle Barker, Simon Kamau and Dan Boniface all cracked the top-25 with 16th, 21st, and 24th place finishes respectively. The Cougars finished behind meet winner Boise State and Eastern Washington.

WSU women placed second behind Ryan Gilmore who clocked in at 18:37 to finish second in the 5,000 meter course. Jaime Miller, Greta Johnson, and Charlotte Neel finished 7th, 8th and 9th in 19:05, 19:06 and 19:21 respectively. All Cougar women finished in the top-25 with a 12th place finish from Lisa Schaures and a 13th place finish by Jenny Filipy. Abby Peters from Boise State won the race in 17:44 and led her team to the meet title.

Cougar cross country action continues October 9 in Pullman at the WSU Cross Country Invitational.
