LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 63 Washington State Cougars were defeated, 4-1, by No. 37 UNLV Lady Rebels to conclude the UNLV Invitational Women's Tennis Tournament Sunday at Las Vegas. All matches played on Sunday were stopped when a team reached four points.
Arias and partner Zsofia Fodor were near perfect in their 8-1 defeat of Gyorgyi Zsiros/Claire Smith, however the Cougars did not capture the doubles point.
Fodor completed a perfect weekend in singles and now has six straight wins. The Pecs, Hungary, native defeated Lady Rebel Mery Constanti, 6-1, 0-6, 6-1 to improve her win total to 14 on the season. Fodor has surpassed her win total from last season which was 12.
"Each match our team is improving," Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart said. "We are competing well, we just have to capitalize on the errors made by our opponents. We look forward to playing San Diego State and San Diego in Seattle."
The Cougars will continue taking on ranked opponents. Next weekend Washington State will head to Seattle to take-on nationally-ranked No. 34 San Diego State Friday, March 5 and No. 64 San Diego Saturday March 6.
