Heading into the 2012 season, the Cougars offensive line features three returners who started at least seven games last season. Headlining the returners will be two-time all-conference performer junior John Fullington who will slide out to left tackle after spending the past two seasons at left guard. Redshirt junior Matt Goetz returns after taking over at center and starting the final eight games last season while redshirt senior Dan Spitz also returns and is expected to move to right guard after he appeared in 11 games (seven starts), mainly at right tackle during the 2011 campaign. Wade Jacobson (16 career games, 15 starts) also returns after receiving a medical redshirt last season. Jacobson is expected to slide over to left guard in 2012 after back surgery forced him to miss the final eight games of last year.

A couple players expected to push for starting spots and also be key factors in the two-deep will be redshirt sophomore Jake Rogers (started at right tackle vs. Utah), redshirt junior Rico Forbes (started at right tackle at spring game), redshirt junior Elliott Bosch who saw a lot of first-team reps throughout the spring, and incoming junior college transfer Niu Sale.
