THIS WEEK: Washington State plays its first Pacific-10 Conference matches of the season at home...Cougars host Oregon Friday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. and Oregon State Sunday, Oct. 28 at noon.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: The Cougars are ranked 27th nationally by Soccer Buzz...ranked seventh in the West region and receiving votes nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America...receiving votes in the Soccer Times national poll.

EARLY DEFENSE: The Cougars have given up 11 goals this season, only two in the first half...Utah scored in the second minute of a 3-3 tie, Sept. 9 and Idaho State tallied its lone goal of a 1-1 tie in the 24th minute, Sept. 30.

MORE DEFENSE: Washington State is 21-9-7 (.662) dating back to the last four matches of the 2005 season...during that span, Cougars have given up 26 goals (0.78 per match).

SCORE TO WIN: Beginning with conference play in 2006, the Cougars are 13-1-2 (.875) when they score at least one goal...WSU has been shut out six times during that stretch posting a 0-4-2 record when failing to score.

OVERTIME SESSIONS: The Cougars have played five overtimes matches this season (WSU 2-1-2)...in 1998 and 2000, Cougars played seven matches that went into overtime.

SUCCESS ON THE ROAD: Washington State has won eight times away from home this season (five road, three neutral) to equal school record set in 2000 (six road, two neutral)...most road victories since six in 2002...Cougars are 2-1 in Pac-10 road matches after posting 3-10-5 record over the last four seasons.

ABOUT OREGON: The Ducks are 8-6-1, 1-2-1 in the Pac-10...Teresa Bowns is tied for the team lead with five goals and leads Oregon with five assists and 15 points...coming off a 1-0-1 weekend with a 1-0 win over Arizona State and a 2-2 tie with Arizona.

COUGAR-DUCK SERIES: Washington State leads 6-2-3...Cougars are unbeaten in the last five matches with two wins in Pullman and three ties in Eugene...WSU is 4-2-0 in Pullman...Ducks have not scored against the Cougars in last 268:35...Anna Miller assisted on WSU goal during 1-1 tie in 2004...Shaye Harrel assisted on game-winner of 1-0 overtime victory in 2005...Brynn Bemis notched two saves during 0-0 tie last season.

ABOUT OREGON STATE: The Beavers are 7-7-1, 0-4-0 in the Pac-10 (play at Washington Friday, Oct. 26)...lost five straight overall...winless in three road matches this season...Jodie Taylor is second in the conference with 12 goals and 26 points.

COUGAR-BEAVER SERIES: Washington State leads 8-5-3...Cougars have 1-0 victories each of the last two seasons...series is tied 3-3-2 in Pullman...last season, Brynn Bemis stopped five shots and Caeli Abeyta notched her only career goal on a assist from Carly Dobratz.
