Fournier and Vasilieva Lead WSU at ITA NW Regional

STANFORD, Calif.-- Elisabeth Fournier and Liudmila Vasilieva have advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regional in Stanford, Calif. Both players will continue their run Monday morning at 9 a.m. at Taube Tennis Center.

Fournier won her match on Sunday against Chau Truong of San Jose State by default. Fournier will next face Tatsiana Kapshai of Sacramento State in the round of 16.

Vasilieva outlasted Chrstina Goehl of Pacific 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday. She is set to play 10-seed Pavlina Smatova of Oregon Monday morning.

The last time WSU had anyone in the round of 16 was 2007 when now assistant coach Ekaterina Burduli fell in her match. No WSU player has advanced passed the fourth round.
