All-American Sits in the Top Spot After First Round of Peg Barnard Collegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - Washington State All-American Anastasia not only leads the Cougars but tops the charts after firing a 69 (-3) during the first round of the Peg Barnard Collegiate, held at the par-72, 6,168 yard Stanford Golf Course, Saturday.

The senior's first round efforts catapulted her into first place, where she is one shot ahead of USC's Irene Cho, who is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the most recent Golfstat rankings.

As a team the Cougars fired a combined 303 (+19) to finish the day in sixth. The Cougs sit just five shots out of the top spot, currently held by No. 6 USC.

Not to be forgotten is freshman Amy Eneroth who opened the tournament firing a 75 (+3), knotting her in a tie for 13th, while teammate Tracy Broders shot a 77 (+5) on the day and sits in a tie for 27th. Freshman Jessica Black completed the first round in a tie for 67th, while teammate Haley Parsons finished the day in 80th.

The final round of the Peg Barnard Collegiate will begin Sunday, April 9, at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
