ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Washington State University women's golf team climbed four spots after round one of the Utah-Dixie Classic to finish the three-round tournament in 12th place at Sunbrook Golf Club April 6.
Leading the Cougars was redshirt junior Jenny Ballou (79-74-79) finishing in a four-way tie for 17th place and a 232 on her scorecard. The Oregon native earned her second top 25 finish of the spring season and the fifth of her WSU career.
Senior Stefanie Coleman (84-80-73 --- 237) tied her low round spring score of 73 and finished in a four-way tie for 35th place. Coleman leads the Cougs in spring averages with a 77.9 per round.
Oklahoma State took home the team title with an overall score of 912 (299-310-303). Tournament host Brigham Young University placed third with a total of 925 (304-309-312). BYU's Carrie Summerhays captured the individual title finishing the 54-hole tournament with a 222 on her scorecard.
The Cougars' next stop is the Peg Bernard Collegiate tournament, hosted by Stanford University in Stanford, Calif. April 10-11.
