PULLMAN, Wash. --- The Washington State Cougar football team will play five home games in Pullman and a sixth "home" game in Seattle next fall, according to WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk.

Sterk and Cougar football coach Bill Doba made the announcement Wednesday in a morning press conference at the Seattle Seahawks Stadium.

The upcoming Cougar football schedule includes games against Idaho, Oregon, Stanford, USC and Washington in Pullman and the Colorado Buffaloes in Seattle.

WSU will kickoff the 2004 season on the road in a Friday night game Sept. 3 at New Mexico in Albuquerque. The next weekend, Sept. 11, WSU will host Colorado in Seahawks Stadium, marking the third straight year the Cougars have played a non-conference game in the new stadium. In 2002 WSU opened the year in Seattle against Nevada and drew 63,588 fans. Last year against Idaho WSU drew 50,113 in Seattle to open the season.

The Cougar football team will host Idaho in its Pullman opener Sept. 18 and three weeks later, Oct. 9, the Oregon Ducks will challenge the Cougars in Martin Stadium.

WSU's annual Homecoming game will be played Oct. 16 against the Stanford Cardinal, while the traditional Dad's Day crowd will witness WSU against the USC Trojans. WSU's regular season ends Nov. 20 when the Cougars host cross-state rival Washington.

No game times have been announced for WSU's home contests, although officials say 2:00 p.m. will be the kickoff time for Pullman games if the game is not televised live as part of the Pacific-10 Conference TV package. No game time has been announced for WSU's game in Seattle, pending television negotiations that may result in a live telecast. The Seattle Mariners currently have a home game scheduled for 7:00 p.m. the same day.

WSU was initially scheduled to host Colorado in Pullman Sept. 15, 2001, but the game was cancelled following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the East Coast. This year's game is the makeup game from that cancellation.

On the road, WSU will play at New Mexico to open the season Sept. 3, then at Arizona Oct. 2, at Oregon State Oct. 23, at UCLA Nov. 6 and at Arizona State Nov. 13.

WSU's annual Homecoming game this fall will be Oct. 16 when Stanford makes the trip to Pullman, while Dad's Day activities will center around the Oct. 30 game with the USC Trojans. Future Cougar Day will be Sept. 18 when WSU meets Idaho, while Armed Forces Day will be celebrated Sept. 11 in Seattle as part of the WSU-Colorado activities.

Season tickets to WSU's five-game Pullman schedule are currently on sale for $160 per ticket. Tickets to WSU's Seattle game against Colorado are also on sale, but individual game ticket sales to WSU's Pullman games do not go on sale until the season ticket campaign has been completed late in the spring.
