MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Washington State men's team outran the competition claiming the Idaho Jamboree Cross Country Meet, Friday.

The WSU men topped Idaho 18-37, Gonzaga 25-32 and Eastern Washington 24-33. The Cougar women beat Eastern Washington 25-30, and were defeated by Idaho 15-48 and by Gonzaga 24-33. Redshirt sophomore Ryan Freimuth (fifth, 20:34.20) and redshirt freshman Chris Concha (eighth, 20:38.40) led the Cougar men on the four-mile course. WSU sophomore Alex Grant, running unattached, ran to victory claiming the men's individual title with a time of 20:20.80. Other Cougar runners contributing included redshirt freshmen Daniel Frederick (14th, 20:57.40) and Geoff Casazza (15th, 21:00.80) and senior Jon Manthey who finished 39th. Cougars running unattached with impressive finishes were sophomore Andrew Jones, third, freshmen C.J. Godfrey, fifth, Woody Favinger, ninth, Drew Polley, 10th, and sophomore Matt Knoff, 13th. On the women's side, seniors Molly Bull (15:13) and Ana Cabrera (15:14) paced the Cougars with 12th and 13th place finishes respectively on the 4K course. Four other Cougar women finished in the top 10 running unattached led by freshman Isley Gonzalez's fourth place finish (14:46.70). Also faring well were freshmen Haley Paul (sixth), Collier Lawrence (seventh) and sophomore Kelly Ramirez (ninth). "It was a good day and fun to see them out there in a some competition," said WSU Cross Country Coach Jason Drake. "Now we will get back to training for a few weeks and get them ready for the big races." Next up for the Cougars is the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle Sept. 18.
